After a weekend of heavy rain and wind, it’s no wonder our phones are ringing off the hook. Between local flooding, road closures, mud slides and fallen trees, the Central Coast is a war zone of storm related disasters.
According to KSBW, “The weekend storms that pounded the Central Coast have left roadways flooded and blocked in many areas of Santa Cruz and Monterey counties.
***In Santa Cruz County:
Boony Doon Road: closed one mile north of Highway One. Trees and wires down
Bear Creek Road: closed north of Highway 9. Trees and wires down.
Casserly at Green Valley Road closed.
River Road at Crescent Drive, near Highway 9 closed
Buzzard Lagoon at Rider is washed out.
San Andreas Road under the train trestle is flooded.
Paulsen at Green Valley Road is washed out.
Bonita Drive is closed due to slide.
***In Monterey County:
Alisal Road to Zabala Road is flooded.
Blackie Road Equestrian Place to MM3.2 flooded
Echo Valley Road between Maher Road and Tustin Road is flooded
Elkhorn Road between Kirby Park and Wough is flooded.
Harrison Road between Sala and Russell is flooded.
Hartnell Road betwen Highway 1012 and Alisal Road is flooded.

If you or someone you know encountered any property damage from the storms, please contact us for assistance. When you are dealing with water damage, it’s critical to begin mitigation and dry-out services quickly. If left untreated, the potential for mold growth increases dramatically and further damage to your property can occur.
As the IICRC indicates, “Whether insured or not, it is important for property owners to document damage with photographs or video, and immediately begin loss mitigation procedures themselves; or hire a qualified contractor to do this on their behalf. It is totally inappropriate to put off mitigation while waiting for an insurance claims representative to arrive on the scene to evaluate the loss. By that time, in all probability sufficient time will have passed to grow and amplify microorganisms, which may not be covered by insurance. Loss mitigation is defined by insurance policies as “reasonable and prudent measures designed to preserve, protect and secure property from further damage,” including microbial growth and amplification.”
